Gary,

Keep up the good work.
I really like following your mods.
I just wish you were working on an M2 so there would
be a more direct correlation!!!

This is a wonderful site. Your clear photographs and
excellent explanations make modifications simple.
Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for sharing all this great info.
Absolutely awesome. I really like the lights, but
I've got to go with the white ones!

Thanks again!

Gary..HELP
This looked so simple that even I could do it.
However,Damned if I can get the "passenger" side light
in without ruining the bulb ie. solder won't join to
the bulb wire and when putting mount in place tape
comes off and I'm blowing fuses. So far I've gone
through four bulbs and three fuses in an eight hour
stretch. The drivers side looks very cool.
Please enlighten me..(pun intended)
Garyhakuna@pacific.net
Hi Rodger,

You need a HOT soldering iron. Your's sounds like it
might be a bit on the lightweight size for the job.
Try cleaning the wire on the bulb (fine sandpaper) and
then "tinning" it with solder before trying to attach
the wire. You can tin the wire too. That way when
you touch the two together with the iron you aren't
trying to stick solder to either one. You just melt
the solder that you ALREADY have on both of the
connections.

I also had a problem on some cars where the plugs fit
fairly tightly. The wires chafe through and blow. If
you have tight fitting plugs then use a dremel or
small round file to make a channel for the wire to fit
in. Sand the edge of the channel if you can and put
a piece of tape over it to stop chafing.

One other suggestion. Don't do it the way I did with
the join in the middle of each wire. Run a single
wire from the stripped section to the passenger
bulb....like a "T" from the wire to the bulb...does
that make sense?

Run one bulb wire on one side of the fitting and the
other on the other side. That way the wire leads
can't touch if the tape comes off.

It's always a pleasure to read and see your projects.
Thank you for your time and efforts!

Gary,
Your site is one of the best I have visited. It
is awesome. I purchased my Miata about two weeks
before memorial day, and it was hit by a stolen car in
that ran a red light. It has been in the shop for a
while and I have to occupy myself by looking at other
peoples Miatas. When it comes back I want to do some
work on it. The first thing I want to do is work on
getting subs installed.
I was hoping you might be able to describe how
you made the MP3 player and got it setup. I have been
very interested in doing this and the MP3 decks
available for purchase run into the thousands. I need
an affordable way to set it up.

Thank you very much

You look like you have great fun doing these mods.
Very explicit info. and good photos. Im going to try
that map light job, it seems simple enough although
you said something about a "pax" in one of the wiring
steps?

Nice job! It's folks like you that make Miata.net such
a great site. If only you could figure out how to
mount the airbag in those visor holes so Mazda could
put a real steering wheel in the car. Oh, well.

these are some of the best photos of a project I've
seen on the web. I hope some of the electronics tips
will carry over to my '99.

I enjoyed reading your detailed instruction on the
light setup. I was at first extatic just to know that
other people want to dispose of the pesky visors.
Next I thought I'd make the modification which you
made. HAve you got any second thoughts about the
installation or bulb choice now?

Thanks Rick inn Savannah
