Mazda Reports 23.9 Percent Jump in Sales for September
- CX-9 Crossover SUV Reports Best-Ever Month -
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) today reported its best September since 1994 with U.S. sales of
25,098 units, a 23.9 percent increase versus the same period last year.
Year-to-date sales of 228,396 are up 9.2 percent year-over-year.
Mazda's crossover SUV lineup continues to post strong sales led by the
three-row, seven-passenger CX-9, which recorded its best month since launch
with 2,766 units. CX-7 and Tribute rounded out the lineup with sales of
3,610 and 1,821 units respectively. To date, Mazda has sold more than
50,000 crossover SUVs.
"This month's tremendous sales results can be attributed to the
strength of our crossover SUV lineup," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and
CEO, Mazda North American Operations. "Fuel economy and gas prices remain
top-of-mind for consumers and all three of our crossover SUVs offer
excellent fuel efficiency without sacrificing size, performance or
styling."
MAZDA3 continues to be a force to be reckoned with as it celebrated its
best September since launch with sales of 10,629 units, accounting for a
58.1 percent increase versus last year. September also marks the fifth
straight month MAZDA3 sales have eclipsed the 10,500 unit mark. For the
year, MAZDA3 sales are up 27.7 percent and are nearing the 100,000-unit
mark.
Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) continues its string of impressive sales
with 1,378 vehicles sold, more than double September 2006. On a
year-to-date basis, MMdM reported 11,456 total sales.
Rounding out North America, Mazda Canada, Inc. reported its best-ever
September with sales of 7,055 units, accounting for a 0.2 percent increase
versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, sales are up 9.0 percent with
71,093 units sold.
