1990-1997 Flyin' Miata rear shock mounts

Shock mounts that allow 20mm more shock travel, 33mm at the wheel, which allows for a less harsh ride from lowered vehicles, as they don't fully compress as often. Includes new bump stops.

Works as advertised. I no longer have to avoid the filled potholes on the way to work, as the susepnsion can now handle them without undue jarring from hitting the bump stops. Should have done this a long time ago! Very simple to install.

Setup prior to installation: KYB AGX shocks, GC springs, perches approximately one inch from the bottom of the spring perch collar, RB solid front and rear sways. For others with this combo, spring/shock assembly can be removed/installed without a spring compressor by moving the shock perches all the way down.

Flyin' Miata rear shock mounts

A lowered 1990-97 Miata has a weak point - a lack of suspension travel in the rear. FM rear shock mounts are redesigned to give 20 mm more travel for the shock, which translates to 33 mm (about 1.25") of travel at the wheel
Unlike some other mounts on the market, these will not affect ride height at all. They are intended to increase suspension travel with lowering springs
Product is high quality with excellent instructions. Expect it to take the better part of a morning to do. It took me a while longer due to cleaning up the shocks/boots prior to installation. It's a shame that they are'nt in plain view.
I've been driving my 90 FM2 around with Jamex springs and KYB AGX shocks for about 4 years. Ride quality would be described as "harsh" at best. I was embarrased to give friends rides due to the suspension. After the FM mounts were installed, totally different car. Ride quality is 100 times better. I can't believe what a difference they FM mounts make. They are well worth the money. I am a very happy customer.

The Flyin Miata Rear Shock Mounts are designed to add close to an inch of extra travel to the rear suspension without raising the ride height of the car. They are constructed of aluminum and anodized purple. A spherical bearing holds the top of the shock and new urethane bumpstops are provided. Printed directions with color pictures are also provided. (Description by Matthew Robertson.)

I installed the new shock mounts a week ago. The suspension on my 95 is the FM stage 2 kit: FM swaybars, shock brace, sport springs, and KYB AGX shocks. I installed this suspension a year and a half ago. I have been pleased with it except for the limited suspension travel in the rear, which resulted in a harsh ride. The freeway that I drive to work has a very bumpy, tightly curving on ramp, which would cause the tail to slide out. After installing the FM shock mounts, my Miata drove right through the bumps and up the ramp. The freeway ride is now much smoother and has a very supple feel: The rear suspension was soaking up the bumps and not bottoming out! These shock mounts make a major improvement in the rear suspension.

The shock mounts are very well made and visually impressive. They appear to be very high quality and come with new bump stops and shock boots, which I really appreciate getting in the kit. The instructions provided are printed in color which makes it a lot easier to interpret the pictures of the installation. The price is very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the parts. Installation was very easy and straightforward with no problems encountered. I highly recommend this part.

The suspension on my 94 M Edition is the FM stage 2 kit.FM swaybars, shock brace, sport springs, and KYB AGX shocks(8 setting-adjustable). This setup was always a bit harsh on every setting. The rear suspension was always on the bumpstops no matter how far I dared to trim them. I almost went back to stock springs!! Now with the FM mounts I hardly notice any difference between the front and rear when I hit bumps. The car corners better on choppy surfaces also. Ride is firm but no longer harsh. Installation was about an hour for both sides.

This is a must have part if you have lowered your Miata. You'd be crazy not to. (I don't remember what the ride quality was like when my cars were still stock so I can't comment.)
