Electro-Chrom Mirror

This is a self-dimming mirror that also includes an electronic compas and thermometer. I got the model without the LEDs.

Once installed this mirror looks great! Installation was pretty straight forward when I used the detailed instructions from Serious Auto. Running the wire for the temp probe through the firewall took a little effort and two sets of hands. I did have a problem getting the mirror tight on the factory mount. The folks at Serious Auto suggested inserting a match book cover under the metal shim, which did the trick. The self dimming feature is pretty neat.

High quality rear view mirror with EXCELLENT LED cab illumination. Mirror also automatically dims bright lights from behind and has a built in digital readout for outside temperature and compass direction.

One light for each side gives off a love-it-or-hate-it greenish light that lights each side only very well. Passenger can used light to read without disrupting driver night vision. Lights come on when doors are open and hve manual switches when closed.

If you're looking for back up light to the wimpy stock knee lights, these are the way to go! I considered the door lights or centre console lights, but this really looks classy. Give the miata cockpit a really high-end look.

Self dimming mirror with compass and temperature.

Product worked as advertised. Pretty easy installation. The hardest part was to get the cable for the sensor through the firewall. The instructions are clear, except that the positioning of the sensor could be explained better. There is a spicture, but it wasn't clear to me at first that it showed the grill area.

I love the mirror. There are lots of SUVs around here, and the mirror really keeps the glare down.

Self dimmiing rear view mirrow with lighted compass and temperature readout. High quality look and feel, and priced right.

works as expected, and pleased to have it as an addition to my Miata Installed by an experienced technician in about two hours and I helped him out a bit. Directions 99% accurate. (needed a slightyly larger socket than specfied) Product performs as expected and adds a touch of class to my already classy Crystal Blue Miata

Excellant response and service from "Maggie" at Serious Auto company. Costs 209.00 plus shipping and I consider it a fair price.

Self dimming mirror with compass and temperature.

Product worked as advertised but installation was not smooth. Instructions were a bit terse, and my goodness there is a lot of extra wire. I still can't figure out what to do with the white wire that the instructions say to connect to the backup lamp circut. THere is no clue how to find it.

It is a nice product - but clearer instructions and more customized components or ability to get rid of exess wire without having to go the store to get more wire lugs would make it outstanding.

Auto dimming rear view mirror with compass and tempature display

Ordered the new style with both the compass and tempature displayed at the same time. Great directions from Serious. They include a fuse with a piggy back lead on it for power. 2-wire hookup took less than 30 min you have to remove and loosen window mouldings. Feeding the temp sensor wire through the firewall probably the hardest you need 2-people. but overall a really nice install

Love the auto dimming feature. Both Compass and tempature readout at the same time looks cool at night. Been in the car business for years these mirrors are becoming the norm. This one is identical to a factory GM mirror. Very Cool Highly recommended

Mirror that dims automatically when it senses headlights.

After using this mirror a week I must say, it's a great product and works exactly as I had hoped. Headlights turn into a greenish blue tint very quickly and smoothly as they enter and exit the mirror. It's a great safety advantage since it's one less thing to distract from driving. It works seamlessly. The ONLY thing bad I can say is that the instructions were printed poorly which made the photos totally useless. Also, there's a leftover wire (for reverse disablement) which should be mentioned in the instructions or removed from the installation kit. I actually installed 2 with the help of the gift giver who also wanted this mirror. The first one took about 2 hours, the second about 45 minutes. Hindsight rules. It's a great product and provides great results.

Rear view mirror with automatic dimming. A light sensor on the unit detects bright

lights and dims the mirror (with I suppose some sort of LCD technology). Also includes

compass and thermometer.

I love it. Austin is overrun by large pickup trucks and SUVs, so driving at night is tough.

Make sure you've got the right instructions. The instructions from Serious are nicely done, but I was accidentally sent those for a pre-'95 car (mirror on the window frame instead of on the glass).

Running the wires through the window frame was pretty easy. I used a Dremel tool to open up a notch in the trim for the cable. The mirror is attached to the existing mount (if any) or a new mount you install. The hold-down screw is a Torx 20 bolt; I found that I had to get it pretty tight to hold the mirror on firmly.

The hardest part for me was running the temperature probe cable into the engine compartment. A cable bundle and the hood release run through a rubber barrier. I decided that there was no way I would succeed at getting the wires through the existing opening for the hood release, so I took out my Dremel and poked a small new hole. I was a afraid the rubber would rip, but it survived just fine. Finally, don't make my mistake and forget to install the probe itself -)

Mirror is self-dimming and has compass point / temperature display.

Kind of cool. Works as advertised just as soon as it detects lights behind me the dimming starts. The stronger the light the more it dims. Takes about 3 seconds to go from dim to normal when the light source is removed. The reflection takes on a little bit of a green hue when mirror is dimmed. I was able to get used to that within an hour.

Installation instructions are thorough and all necessary parts where included. The actual installation was very easy in that I just watched Hector from R-Speed do it for me. Took him about 2 hours. As always, it was a joy to watch him take great pains to ensure a first-class job. Not meant to be an ad for R-Speed, but why not? The whole gang over there is the best!!
