A service that covers the stock plastic console lid with foam padding and leather.

I just want to update my previous review. After about 3 months of using the product, it is holding up great. It still looks like new. If I was writing the review today, I wouldn't mention the staples being visible. It is not something you notice in daily use.

This is a foam pad and leather cover that the company puts over your stock center console lid. (I installed it on a 94M edition, but a version is also available for NB Miatas.) Here is a link to a picture of the product in my car: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/342258/15 The leather covers the entire lid and is stapled securely to the inside of the cover. This is not a "stick on" pad. It is like having your console lid upholstered.

I sent the cover of my console to Leather Lids and received the finished product about 8 days later. (This included mail time back and forth from Virginia to Utah.) I sent my lid off at the start of my vacation and received it a little after I returned. The craftsmanship was very good and the appearance is a real enhancement to the interior of my car. It is also much nicer to rest you arm on the pad than on the hard plastic console lid. I've use the lid for about 3 weeks and haven't noticed any quality problems.

At $85, this is a more expensive option than a stick on pad. However, I asked a local upholstery shop how much they would charge to do the same work and they quoted me $125. When you consider that Leather Lids has worked out all the bugs in the process it is well worth the cost. The only improvement I could suggest is to somehow cover the staples inside the cover. But, the staples aren't that noticeable even when the top is open, so this is a very minor concern. The company kept me advised (through e-mail) of the status of my order. I heartily recommend this product.

Padded leather console lid.

The Leatherlids website offers two custom-made products for sale, the Leatherlids padded leather console lid cover, and the Tombstone acrylic windblocker. I have purchased both products for my car and I am thrilled with each of them. To say that the Leatherlid looks factory-made is probably an insult to the craftsman who makes them. The Leatherlid shows fit and finish, and attention to detail that you just can’t get from any factory. Leatherlids takes your console lid (or core exchange) and covers it with a thick layer of padding and then applies a layer of Katzkin leather. Cam, the Leatherlids guy, is very accommodating when it comes to getting the leather that suits your needs. My console lid matches my leather seats, door inserts, brake boot, shift boot, etc… perfectly! This is a very nice addition to my interior leather package.

My console lid retains its full functionality (locking, holding papers, opening and closing, etc.) with a touch of class. My console lid has become a happy place to rest my arm. I even got rid of that big red sore spot on my elbow!

Katzkin leather covered and padded center armrest

Love it. My cousin makes them and was able to cut me deal on one which makes it even better but after the year of use I would not be able to live without it. Makes putting your right forearm down an enjoyable experience. I cat say for sure if I would have paid the full cost without seeing his one on his car but after doing so it was an easy decision. Much better then the tacky stick on pad I had before. Looks OEM.

You have to send in your armrest for the modification.

Padded leather center console cover and elbow rest.

I ordered and received the product in 3 days. Easy to install and impeccably made. Extreamly well done with very soft, and quality leather, and looks way better than the pillows that stick on. It actually factory.

After shopping for roughly a month, I purchased this product after much comparison shopping and viewing. I was extreamly pleased with the quality and service. Well worth the price and effort. I have upgraded leather on the shifter and brake boot and wanted this to match as close as possible on color and quality. It does...
