Scorpion back box Mk 1 (plus catpass pipe)

Second entry Rspy when cold, but what a noise when warm. Still sounds like a motorbike when warmed up. Have still not heard a louder MX5. Not talking about boy racer loud - quiet when driven considerately through town - but when you want to wake the neighbours - nuff said. Many freinds who have motorbikes/TVRs etc have commented on how good a chunk of 'Jap crap' sounds. Thoroughly recommend it if you do saturday morning 6am drives for the love of driving. Oh and by the way, for various reasons, I also regularly drive 911 Carrera 4 , TVR S2, Aston Martin Martin 4 (special series with straight through exhaust), Triumph Stag and TVR 350i - in other words, am not a boy racer. SUMMARY - not as raspy as US ones, far more butch than every other one I have heard in Uk. I just wish noise meant speed (having done 2 x Alps trips in it....trust me!!). ENJOY

Scorpion Back Box For Mk2

Scorpion cat replacement and back box

Costs £313 inc delivery. Took about 500 miles to soften up. Very raspy when new, but seriously loud when warmed up. Sounds like Superbike in tunnels. Curious oily smells at first. Much freer breathing above 80mph

Have heard it on video cam, and sounds like a Mk1 Escort rally car, with a lot of induction roar as well from K&N. Not sure would replace cat pipe next time - adds a lot of boom and roar - almost too noisy under full throttle. Have not heard louder on other MX5s. Discreet at tickover when warm.

Stainless Steel replacement back box for Mk2 MX-5 Large oval tip. (Purchased from www.donutz.co.uk)

Fitted perfectly first time, although there was a slight blowing where the new pipe fitted to the old middle section. This was easily solved with some exhaust mating paste.

Finish is excellent. The chrome tip is still perfect after one UK winter, although due to the rolled tip, it does collect the soot after 200 miles or so. This is easilly cleaned off, and a touch of metal polish restores it nicely. Although this unit looks very nice, there is very little noise or performance gains to be had. It is a very good replacement for anyone wanting OEM sounds with very good looks.
