Review of MPCA basic performance brake kit

Once I recieved the correct brackets(There was a problem with some hole depths that was taken care of very quuickly)the instalation was easy. Not much different than replacing pads alone. They fit my Greenlights with very little to spare. Depending on your 15" rims they may or may not fit. The only thing I would change about the kit would be to add the option to use the lighter alloy hat rotors. I have had this on for 6 months and will not go back!

Arron is great to deal with and I would buy from him again in a heart beat. This kit takes a 1990 car that is brake limited to a car that is tyre limited. If you have a 90-93 I suggest you up the rears to 94+ at the same time. Some say that this kit can't work due to no increase in sweapt area. That is utter hogwash. For the street this is a great kit. Larger rotor radius = more brakeing force. It is a torque vector. Friction force x radius of application. Heat disipation is another matter and is a subject matter for track time and I am not refering to the track here. Braking is basic physics. I have yet to get these to fade with stock pads on the street. If you are looking to build a track car then you should probably not look at this kit. Robert

MPCA (Miata Performance Club of America) Standard Performance Brake Kit

[10/1/2002] Reviewed by: Gerry McFaull - Gerry@Qualdeval.com

Applicable to:

The kit contains 2 ea of the following items: 11.5 inch drilled and slotted rotors Set of performance pads Caliper mounting brackets

Brake modulation is very similar to stock in low braking force situations - no big adjustment to normal driving technique required. However, with more pressure the performance improvement becomes clear. Under hard usage the stopping power is very impressive and remains easy to control - watch out for loose objects on the rear window shelf or other cars following too close behind. Yeehah!!!

I chose the MPCA Standard Performance Brake Kit for four reasons: 1) Recommendation from a trusted Miata expert. 2) Compatability with my 15" Panasports 3) Excellent value 4) Previous (very positive) experience with Aaron Tachibana of MPCA - he's a straight up guy and a serious gear head.
