CMS Style Bar

[8/30/2001] Reviewed by: Bret Bailey - bret-bailey@usa.net

Applicable to: '90 - '97 '99 + 1.6 liter 1.8 liter

This is a chrome, twin hoop style bar with integrated, Plexiglas wind block panels that fit inside each hoop and another removable Plexiglas panel between the hoops. The style bar itself is very nice. It is hefty and has a solid feel. The welds are clean and the chrome job is good. The Plexiglas inserts are tight and noise free. The boot is a little tight now but it still fits with no cutting required.

Installation was very easy. This bar does NOT require ANY body panel cutting, plastic or otherwise. Remove the factory windblocker, attach the style bar to the seatbelt posts using the existing seatbelt bolts and you are done. The biggest problem we had here was determining in what order to use the seatbelt bolt spacers. The bar can be installed backwards (which interferes with seat travel), once installed correctly everything works perfectly. The cabin is much quieter and the lower portions of the cabin are much less windy (I can place papers on the seat and not worry about them blowing away, even with the windows down). With the windows up, there is almost no wind at all.

Wonderful product, the best I've seen so far. I wish I could find a true Roll Bar with an integrated windblock. Tom McGrath of Miata Technologies is the distributor for this product, he can be reached at 214-42MIATA. Send me an e-mail for more information, maybe even a digital picture.

Wonderful product, the best I've seen so far. I wish I could find a true Roll Bar with an integrated windblock. The biggest problem with this item was ordering it. A buddy had seen it at a Miata event in Florida and knew only that the company was located in Canada. It turns out that CMS is located in Quebec and us good-ol-boys here in Texas do not speak French very well and not many of the CMS employees speak English (especially not Texan). We were eventually able to get the order placed without an interpreter. Send me an e-mail for more information, maybe even a digital picture.
