Kicker RS6 Matched Component Set comprised of a R6c 6" Mid-Bass and R25 tweeter installed in my 1999 Silver base M2.
This setup rocks! The mid bass units were fit into the existing lower door cutout. The tweeters were mounted into the existing angled mesh area in the upper part of the door. I had the components professionally installed. The bass units were mounted on reinforcement materials providing a non-metal mounting point. and foil materials then sealed the mounting and allowed for exceptional enclosure of the door air chamber.
I am using a 100W/Channel MTX Roadthunder amplifier to drive the speakers. The hight are clear & defined with no ringing. The mid-bass drivers are rated at 40-4.5k and they deliver bass down to that 40. The bass is solid (the power helps - you bet), and although you won't hear the car a block away you will hear the base across the yard. The key is in the installation and its near perfect enclosure of the door. The door chamber appears to be the right volume for the 6" speakers. Remember the JBL monster wire!
