6.5" Component Speaker w/ separate tweeter.

Great product! After much research I finally went w/ the MB Quarts from their generally above average rating. I bought them online for $159, not bad when local stores had them at retail $399. These are brand new, never opened or refurbished. Sound is excellent. Mid to High freq. sounds are stellar. However, don't expect much bass from them. They're hooked to my MTX Thunder 280 amp and Alpine 7856 h/u. Freq. below approx. 75hz get distorted and bottom out the speaker. Spec's say it can go to 32hz, I don't believe it. Like a previous review, an inline crossover that cuts off at 85hz does the trick. Then I let the sub handle the low freq's. W/ my current setup it's like my CD's are all new. There are sounds there I didn't know about before.

The DSD-216's are good for the mid to high freq's. In fact I'd say they're about the best I've had so far in any car. Just don't expect any bass response. I would buy it again expecting what I know now.

MB Quart DSD-216 6.5 inch woofers with separate Tweeters.

EXCELLENT!!! You can go with the Co-axials if you are afraid of attaching something to your car, but I cut 1 inch holes and did a angled flush mount for the tweeters just under the rounded top of the door panel on the flat panel part. Sound is so much better than the previous owners JBL's(5 years old or so). I listened for 2 months on a 50wattX4 Pioneer Head Unit before I added an Alpine MRV-T407 140wattX2 peak amp. I had to use the -3dB tweeter output from the passive crossovers because these speakers were too bright with the plethora of power. They sounded so crisp and fresh with the amp. Christmas came twice for me.

Some people have said they get rattling from the bass out of them. I cross them over at high pass 80Hz and let the sub do the rest.

MB Quart, 6.5 inches, co-axial speakers

Great sound! Exchanged my factory speakers for a set of Pioneer and was very dissapointed. Then, decided to  invest $320.00 for a set of MR Quarts and I am very happy. The tweeter mount makes them hard to install and the dealer had to trim it without much success. The speaker cover still sticks out a bit but does not interrupt the cranking of the window lever.

If I had to do it again, I would buy the same speakers but with a separate woofer and tweeter to avoid the problem regarding the high tweeter mount. Anyway, I ordered a foam baffle from Crutchfield to protect them from the rain and some sound proofing material to get rid of some rattles in the doors due to the large bass   output. They sound great and worth every penny.
