Frost Fighter CLear View 2695 Defroster Timer Switch Kit. http://www.frostfighter.com/ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/jeremyjadams/For%20forums/Frostfighterall.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/jeremyjadams/For%20forums/Frostfighterrelay.jpg Complete wiring kit to heat your rear defroster. Perfect to power your rear defroster if you add a soft or hard top with a rear defroster to a car (any car) that didn't have a rear defroster.
My 1990 Miata had the original vinyl soft top with no rear defroster. The original top was shot and I decided when I replaced the top, I would get one with a defroster as I was planning to drive it year round. I went with a Robbons streamline cloth non-zip glass rear window with a defroster. The only problem was that my car never had a defroster. Early car have a different way of powering the RD than newer cars. I wanted to be able to turn of the RD without the heater, and I didn't want to hunt down the various OEM pars and run all of the wires. I bought this kit for less than $50 cpmplete with helpfull tech support on the phone. It was really easy to wire up. The supplied realy has one wire to ground, one ribbon cable to the switch, one to 12V power (run it to switched 12V), one to the rear defroster grid on your glass, then one wire from your RD grid to ground. It was just that easy and quick. And if your soft/hard top didn't come with a defroster grid, then F! rostfighter.com can sell you one of those also. If the grid gets damaged, they can supply with repairs. When you turn on the switch it stays on for 11 minutes. If you hit the switch while it is on you can turn it off before the 11 minute timer is up. Works really nice, clears (with the Robbins defroster grid) fog or ice quite quickly. Very happy with this install.
I would be very careful with the ribbon cable on the relay. The relay has the timer in it and I don't know if you can source that part locally, or if you would have to buy that from Frost Fighter if you mess up that thin ribbon cable. I didn't have a problem but I was careful routing it though the dash.
Over 30 minutes to remove completely
