No-Pro Shock Dumpers from RSpeed

NB type shock mounts with extended length upper nut to allow the taller mounts to be used with NA shocks. (also purchased related NB type bump stop, bushings, washers). This set up will reportedly increase the suspension travel (especially in the rear) before bottoming on the bump stops. NB bump stops reportedly offer better progressive bump at end of suspension travel. Car will also be lowered.

This product performs exactly as advertised. Car appears nearly an inch lower with stock springs and I have yet to bottom out the suspension. Progressive bump stops may have masked this though. The car has taken on a more comfortable civilized ride without sacrificing handling. This car (94m) is my daily driver and is much more pleasant over rough pavement, tracks better on the freeway, and looks better too. Since I installed KYB AGX shocks at the same time some of the ride and handling improvement is attributable to them but the improved suspension travel and better bump stops have done alot also. I look forward to driving it everyday even more than before.

Easy to put on if you are replacing shocks anyway as it includes all the same steps. Tightening the elongated nut onto the top of the shock shaft to 25ftlb was impossible as the shaft simply rotated. No-pro allen lock nut very reassuring here. NB bushings not dependent on torque of extended nut but care must be taken to align them properly and that the nut bottoms on the threads.

Upper shock mounts from a '99, which lower an NA 1" with stock suspension. *This is an addendum to my previous review.*

I'm still very happy. I've gotten a couple of inquiries, so I wanted to clarify a couple of things. I was mistaken - they actually lower the car more like 3/4". Keep in mind, I did not take an actual measurement, but I'm fairly certain of my eyeball. One gentleman who contacted me said that his only was good for about 3/8". Certainly possible, but I don't know - he was using KYBs, and I was using Bilsteins with this kit. I love the Bilsteins - see my other review. I have put together some comments on installation, along with a better diagram. For more info, see my car's website (below). Feel free to print it off, if you like. I'll keep updating it as I go along. Finally, I was wrong with the time estimate. Changing out the shocks, and putting on the dumpers took 4 hours the second go 'round. The first time was 13 hours, but that included much downtime, doing an alignment, and some difficulties with a spring compressor. So, 4's a decent estimate for a novice.

Kit lowers an NA approx. 1". Goes on smoothly, once you get the directions, or if you have experience. Bolts right in, with no permanent modifications at all. However, MAKE SURE you get the '99 boots and bumpstops. They make the install a whole lot easier, and if you have gone with your old ones for any length of time, they're most likely shot anyway. The ride is noticably lower, with a nice center of gravity for a daily-driver. It allows you to keep the stock setup, so you're not scraping, and your fillings stay with you. However, the directions are not the best (Japanese text and poor pictures, so I got the printout from the Dealer), so I'll be posting some to help any people who were like me, and had no clue.

The boys at RSpeed were fantastic! They gave great tech support, quick shipping, and overall good help. Took maybe three hours, working slowly and enjoying my beer. This included changing out the shocks, too...
