Flyin' Miata Catalytic Converter

Free flowing cat for more power.

This converter has excellent build quality, with an extremely solid heft to it. Simply unbolt the old converter and bolt this one in using the included flange gaskets, washers, nuts and bolts. This was to replace a rattling, melted-down OEM convertor, so other than the lack of the rattle, it sounds very similar. (According to the emissions test, I think my old cat had become "free flowing," so if you have a functioning converter, this will probably sound deeper.

Penetrating oil! Hit the old bolts with buckets of the stuff for a week if you can.

Stainless steel high-flow catalytic converter.

The cat bolted straight up to my existing exhaust system (stock headers, Borla cat-back). No problems with the install--worst part was getting the existing cat out of the car. Hardware is suitably beefy and FM includes two new exhaust gaskets.

Beautiful stainless steel cat-replacement, "for offroad use only" haha. Resonated to remove the rasp from the exhaust.

Simple drop in drop out install, just bust the nuts loose on the cat, don't worry about breaking the studs, this came with all the required gaskets and hardware.

Very nice, sounds a lot better than I thought it would, pretty loud though. I love it! :)

Polished high-flow catalytic converter. Slightly larger diameter than stock.

I chose the Flyin' Miata Cat because my old one died and I wanted a somewhat louder exhaust note. I have had a Racing Beat PP exhaust for almost 2 years now and this cat added a good amount of tone to the existing note. Very easy installation, although it seems maybe an inch shorter than stock.

I am very glad I chose this cat as I passed smog in California two days later, and my car sounds better than ever!

Flyin' Miata M2 midpipe with catalytic converter

M2 midpipe with catalytic converter & resonator for naturally aspirated Miata.

I ordered this item online from Flyin' Miata with no problems. There communications were excellent...sent me a notice when it was shipped and tracking info. It arrived safely in a few days (packaging was very good). Install was very easy and everything fit perfect.

It is made of stainless steel tubing with very good welds. The tube has mandrel bends and is a larger diameter than stock. The sound is a bit louder now...but sounds good. I highly recommend this as a replacement for a burnt out cat on a NB Miata.

Replacement catalytic converter

Very easy to install. Whole job took about an hour due to a stubborn bolt on original converter.

This is a very high quality piece. The welds are clean and neat with little or no "slag". It is almost to pretty to put under a car! Once installed I took the car for a drive down a nice road near my house and my "seat-of-the-pants" dyno showed instant increase in power. The most noticeable difference was in the low to mid-range, but top end seemed good as well. The noise level was a little louder but not unbearable. I noticed no drone on my car even with a Borla cat-back system I had previously installed. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to replace either a worn "cat, or just needing a boost in performance.

Flyin Miata Performance Catalytic Converter

Very solid replacement converter. Excellent welds. Larger diameter than stock.

It only took about 15 minutes to install. Follow everyone's advice about removing the nuts! Works like a charm. I've had it on for a month now. There was initially a noticeably deeper, fuller tone just after install. This has become more subtle or I am getting used to it. It seems to improve throttle response. This is very appealing SOP feel. Not sure of actual HP increase.

I noticed that the inlet is about 2 1/4" while the outlet looks to be 2 1/2". It appears intentional but I'm not sure of the purpose. I'm very happy with the increase in performance and would do it again.

Hi-flow replacement cat for cars over 50K miles.

I bought this product to replace a rattling stock converter. My 94R has 58K miles on it and started to rattle after having my car dyno tested. I bought the replacement cat from Dealer Alternative and used the delivery time to prepare for the installation I set up two 2X6 pieces of wood in my garage and would park the car with the front wheels on the boards to raise the car just high enough so I could get under it and spray liquid wrench on the bolts that attached the cat to both the downpipe and my Thermal cat-back exhaust. I did this for approximately 5 nights. After that, a 1/2" drive breaker bar was able to remove all 4 bolts easily. The new cat adds A LOT of depth to the sound of my Thermal exhaust.... I wouldn't say it's louder than before, but the sound is definitely different. As far as performance gains, there might be some but my car sounds so good right now I'm driving more aggressively than before so the gains might be psychological. Excellent product at a great price!
