OBX SS Catback for NA 1992 Miata

System looked good when I opened it and sounded good after I installed it but it didn't fit well at all. It pushed the exhaust tip against the bumper cover causing a terrible racket while turning. I pulled the hangers over as far as I could but it only fixed the problem for a week or two. It only took a couple of months for the resonator to blow the fiberglass packing out and get considerably louder. Then a few months more for the resonator to start cracking at the weld where the tubing exits the housing. I had it professionally welded three times and each time it just cracks again.

I guess you get what you pay for in the case of a $150.00 OBX exhaust system. The system is junk and I would not recommend it to anyone who is planning on keeping their car for another year.

stainless steel OBX single tip cat back exhaust

Overall this is a nice catback system. The finish is great. The sound is quite a bit louder than stock. Most of the extra noise in only at 4000 rpm and up. It's very low pitch, without any booming. Seem to add some power. Smoothed out the power curve. Installation was not too bad. I did have to elongate the holes to attach it to the cat. Beyond that the installation was fine. I would recommend this product.

OBX stainless catback dual exhaust for NA miata

I bought this new on e-bay and was very happy with it for about 2 weeks. The welds and fit were the best I have seen on any exhaust. The sound was nice and low. So what happened after 2 weeks? The muffler started getting louder by the day, and the back of my car had fine fiberglass particles on it. The packing was blowing out! Now the muffler is more hollow sounding and extremely resonant at 3k rpm. It's very loud now. I contacted the seller and got no response (big surprise!)

Don't buy obx mufflers, they look good new but you get what you pay for, and the internals have been skimped on (at least on the duals).

This is a stainless steel 300 grade exhaust. The exhaust comes with a midpipe and muffler, with two outlets.

The product was OK. Welds were OK, finish was fine. For what I paid for it, it was fine. Fitment was a small problem. The new outlet on the drivers side was too high, and a muffler shop lowered it for me. No biggie.

The sound is awesome. Low growl, not buzzy at all. Overall, I would do it again, less than 1/2 the cost of RB or other dual systems.

This is a full stainless steel catback exhaust system manufactured by OBX. It comes in two pieces, the muffler section and the connection pipe.

I have only had this product for two days, however, it is a top quality exhaust. The stainless steel has a fantastic shine to it, and everything fit perfectly. I installed it with a ratchet, floor jack, and axle stands. This is the Racing edition of the muffler, and surpisingly, the exhaust not is very nice. It has a deep rumble to it, not that high pitch 2 stroke motorbike noise. Even though the pipe is considerably larger on this system, it fit perfectly with my Moss rear chassis brace. No modification was necessary for install.

This was purchased from an ebay seller at $295.00 (including shipping). I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a nice looking, aggressive sounding exhaust.

Purchased from eBay with shipping for 145.00, received 4 days after purchase. Install was pretty much straight forward, no bending or heating needed although I did need to break out the dremel to get 1 of the head studs to go in without scraping down the threads. All in all can't complain you can hear alittle more noise when stepping on the loud pedal and the engine screams all the way up to redline with out a problem

Nice SS catback whit a big resonator and all of the anger to install it, you need to buy the gasket that goes at the back of the cat to install it. And a huge 4" exhaust tip.

Nicelly made, very shinny, simple to install ( not that simple to take off the old one, I broke the two bolt, they where rusted ). It fit perfectly, and the tip is just the right size.

The sound, accuatly, is less loud than me stock one, but mine whas 13 years old, but nice deap and low growl when accelerating, fell like more power but, I think it's more in my head...

OBX Racing Catback. Muffler and resinator

I'm new to the Miata world having got a heck of a deal on a 96 with a Torsen for autocrossing 2 mo. ago. This was my first power mod. I wanted to replace everthing but the cat as it doesn't appear to buy much of a power increase. I read everthing negitieve on miata.net about OBX and ssautochrome.com but thought what the heck, for half the price I'll take a chance. I thought even if I had to make some mods to it I'm pretty good welding stainless. I was high bidder on Ebay for 2 seperate bids of a header and catback. I wrote the guys at ssautochrome and asked if they'd make me a deal on shipping since I won both and they did. I got everything shipped to the door for $400.00 flat, not bad. See my writeup on the cat back. Got everthing shipped promply and safely. The header box was pretty beat up. Needs a little more bubble wrap on the ends of the header. But for this good of a deal ssautochrome.com has my vote.

The muffler and the pipe in front of it come as two pieces. The flange bolt holes are enlongated and have some play, so you need to eyeball them for enlighment before tightening them down. The muffler has a great looking tailpipe exit. There was an extra hanger bracket welded on the front pipe. Maybe another model year needs it. I just cut it off with a hacksaw, don't need any extra weight. I had to bend a tad on the muffler hangers to get the exaust outlet to line up with the notch in the bumper cover. Not much. Test driving it seems to have gained what I was looking for. Probably 5-7 hp with the headers. It had a nice deep tone and power increase from bottom end all the way to redline. They claim 30 percent louder. I'm not even sure if it's that much. It's just a little more than stock. I'd do it again, great deal. Read my writeup on the header.

Stainless steel and completely chromed full cat back exhaust with 4" Type "H" Hiroshima Style exhaust tip.

Really great exhaust for the Miatas. The 4" exhaust tip that is completely chrome looks wonderful. If you look at the right angle, you can see the fully chrome muffler as well. Really nice. Very low rumble (enough to set off car alarms when in a parking garage). It is very quiet inside the cabin, but loud enough to be noticible when the car drives by. Comes with a hole for the O2 sensor, but since it doesn't exist on my 94, I had to hunt down a specialty bolt to plug the hole. Of course, no specialty shops are ever open on the weekends.

Great product for a great price. It lists for $450, but you can easily find it for much less. I paid only $230 w/ shipping!! Brand new sets show up very often on eBay.
