Altezza taillights from E-Bay
Easy to install and looks great! The only problem I had was some fogging after I washed the car, but I put some silicone around the edges of the lights to seal them up better.
I love these lights! They made a huge difference in the look of my car. I put the chrome ones one a black 94, because I like a little bit of flash. I get all sorts of "Wow, look at that car!" compliments now. And I got them off of E-Bay for much cheaper than I have seen them anywhere else. So if you are hesitating from getting them off of E-Bay, don't! The lighting from them is much brighter than stock as well, so it is an added safety when driving at night.

Altezza Clear Tail Light Covers for 1990-1997 Miata MX5
If anyone is wanting a "new look" to their Miata, try the Altezza Clear Tail Lights. For under $159 from www.MiataMania.com, your Miata will look totally upgraded into the 21st Century. I installed them under 30 minutes (and I'm blonde and female!) Excellent quality and appearance and since they're so easy to install, there aren't any instructions included. In case, however, someone would like to know, you first remove the lights from their platforms and leave hanging. Then remove the four bolts holding the tail light fixture with a 10mm wrench (I used a thin wrench to get into the small area). Push out the fixture from the inside. Viola! Then, insert your new fixture, making sure your thick gasket is in place, and replace the bolts (tightly) and then place the bulbs back into their platforms. People will think you have a new car!

Carbon Fibre Altezza Lights
2 months on the car, great look, hasn't turned a policeman onto tailing me as of yet. So the boy-racer connotations are unfounded IMHO. Easy to install, great fit. I had no problems with the supplied gasket being too thick.
I think the carbon fibre look is much more discreet than the chrome altezza's. The dark carbon fibre looks great on my 1990 Red. The lights are much more visible at night, and the backup lights actually illuminate behind me much better than the stock lights did. Not sure but I think my lights were also much lighter than the stock lights, so I feared for the quality and durability, but so far no problems. All in all, one of the best upgrades I have done for the exterior of my car.

These are basicall the same Altezza tail lights as the chrome versions except these have a less flashy carbon fiber appearance to them. I purchased them from gomiata.com for aprox $250 including tax (shipping was free)
I own a black 94 and was planning on staying with the factory tail lights because in my opinion the chrome Altezzas look too flashy on a dark colored miata such as mine and would shout to the world "Hey everyone look, now I've got chrome tail lights just like every other slammed Accord/Civic/Integra here in town".
I am very pleased with the way the back of my car looks now. They are different enough to stand out without being garrish. No instructions were supplied but none are really needed. Just open the trunk, pop off the plastic braket holding the light bulbs in place, remove the 4 nuts holding the factory tail lights in place and swap them for the Altezza unit. Another reviewer said that the new gasket was too thick but I had no trouble. I also read that the Altezzas put out more light than the factory unit, but I haven't noticed any increase in light output, just a better light pattern and appearance at night. I am happy with the product and would not hesitate to buy them again.

**UPDATE** after having the altezzas
on my car for a month or so I noticed that there was some slight fogging inside
the lense on the of the driver side lamp after I would wash the car. I called
gomiata and they said to send them back and they would be more than happy to
replace the pair (another reason to keep factory parts when buying aftermarket).
The new pair have performed flawlessly. Make sure to re-tighten the 4 nuts holding
them in place after a week or so as they tend to loosen. Also after watching
the car being pulled into the shop when I have the oil changed I have had the
opportunity to see the brake lights on from a distance and I will have to say
that they in fact ARE noticably brighter than the factory unit.

Altezza Tail Light
Manufactured by TYC - SAE/DOT Approved Direct fit, high quality materials, no fogging even though I tried to accidently drown them with a hose.
I battled with the Rice issue, but I too finally put some Altezza's on my Laguna Blue '94. The install was quick and easy, and a no brainer. Be sure to clean off those old dusty cruddy bulbs before you reinstall them, eh? I was pretty sure I didn't like these, until I saw some at night. Driving the OTM I came up on 2 Miatae at about the same time, one with, one without, the amount of red light coming off the "dog-bone" under braking just doesn't compare in brightness or visibility to the Altezza stop light. I'd almost consider it a safety issue for a small dark car in a rural area like mine. I actually thought enough of them now that I have had them on a while, to put some on my Tacoma P/U, wish we could get that $58 Tacoma price on the Miata version.

Clear replacement taillights for M1s. Red brakes and blinkers, white backup lights in a clear housing.
Very well made. My only problem was the gaskets supplied are too thick to allow for proper alignment with the body. I reused the original gaskets.
They have a jewel-like appearance to them. I wasn't originally going to buy them due to boy-racer connotations, however they do set off the rear of the car very nicely.

Clear "euro" style tail lights from Altezza
Not only did I get the product at a good price from procarparts.com, but they got to cincinnati in only four days. As for installation it only took about ten minutes total for both lights. Mazda could not have made there tail lights any easier to change. All you have to do is pull out the light assembly, then take out four nuts per light and the old ones are out. The only real problem I had was.....heck there wasn't one.
The main reason I purchased the lights were that I saw a white civic with them and realized how good they would look on my white 92'.

Altezza tail lights are the red and clear tail lights
The product is very well made and looks great on my 1990 Crystal White. The installation was extremely easy in fact my 11 year old son did the job with my supervision in about 25 minutes. It was a matter of removing the twist out bulbs, the other lamps which just snap in and out, removing four nuts from the existing lights remove them and install the Altezzas in their place.

This is the new Altezza taillights from BSP,Rspeed, and so on. It has two red lights w/ a clear surround.
This is the easiest modification you could make to your Miata. It takes less than 15 minutes to remove the old taillights and install the new clear ones.
These taillights looks great! I've only seen the pics on the Net, but I never knew how good it looked until I saw them on my red Miata. It is so much brighter than the OEM taillights, you're sure to be noticed at night! Not ricey at all, according to my opinion.

Altezza taillights
My adorable husband bought these taillights as an anniversary present for the car which was an earlier anniversary present. They are beautiful! They actually improve the appearance of my little red Miata, which is no small thing. Just the right combination of chrome and red; also they appear brighter than stock taillights. I feel a little more secure with the higher level of visibility. The lights installed in about twenty minutes, work perfectly, and look fantastic -- I couldn't be happier.
Can't seem to wipe the smile off my face. It's fun to watch other Miata drivers slow down to scope out the lights. I highly recommend this product, which looks especially fantastic on a Classic Red.
