ACT ZM2XTSS clutch

[7/5/2017] Reviewed by: Keith Kimble

High performance street clutch (rated at 310 lb-ft)

About two years

Old clutch (Centerforce) gave out, I suspect coincidentally, shortly after I upgraded engine to built motor running 15 PSI. But I didn't push it that hard, honest!! The ZM2XTSS is one of the more robust street clutches ACT makes for the miata. Effort is definitely heavier, and engagement more abrupt, than stock, or my prior Centerforce. I don't find it objectionable even slogging thru afternoon LA commute. But my wife does. Too bad. She can drive her PDK Boxster. I paired it with ACTs "Streetlite" (12.9 pounds) flywheel, and drivability is quite decent. There is no point in installing a clutch like this unless you are making big power. Even with my setup I could have gone with something lesser, but I like overbuilt. At least up to a point.

ACT Heavy Duty Clutch Organic

Act Heavy Duty Clutch Kit. Kit contains a new pressure plate , throw out bearing, alignment tool , organic clutch disk.

All the products seem to be of top quality and only causes a slight increase in pedal pressure to disengage the clutch. The clutch has a nice smooth feel to it yet. - But now there is a on going noise at the point of engagement 'clutch noise' that is very annoying, but cause no problems other than embarrassment.

This was installed on a 2001 ,when Mazda recalled the OEM clutches for shuttering problems. The Act Clutch noise problem is well ducumented and a real issue. The clutch preforms as stated in adds ,But I wish I had tried something else. The engagement Squak is very annoy. I have 5000 miles on it now and the noise is still there.
