FujiRacing lightened Flywheel & Exedy Clutch Review

Over 700 hard miles and going strong.

This mod is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I loved/love my car but 1st and 2nd gear always seemed a lil sluggish to me. A lighten flywheel seemed like it would be a good mod for my'ata.

Now, it zips thru 1st gear in seconds. Its throttle, rev, gone. Most impressive imho is 2nd gear. Get up & go to - gone! And no whine sound to speak of. If I really try I guess I hear a higher pitch sound but nothing to fuss over. The car only has 13,000 miles on it and we did use Idemitsu Oil provided by Jimmy & FujiRacing. So Im not sure why but happy to say, no whine from this mod. The install itself(by a professional) only took 3.5 hours total.

As for the Exedy clutch, if anyone has concerns about drivability, stop and go traffic etc, to me, this clutch feels and is working very very close to stock. Smooth and easy. Exedy Stage1 racing clutch

Before I parked my car for the winter one of the bearings, the pilot or release began to make a nasty noise. So, I knew I wanted a good kit with both bearings of at least OEM quality. For the pressure plate and clutch I was also interested in at least OEM or a bit better. After shopping around online for most of the winter months I settled on the Exedy Stage 1 racing clutch from Nopi online. The price and specifications seemed just about right for a nice little bump up from stock. It only took 3 days from the day I ordered till it arrived on my front porch. Upon unpacking and sizing it up to the old unit I noticed right away the Daikin stamp on both pressure plates. This was reassuring that the new kit was what I was after. The bearings seemed to also be good quality.

The installation went smoothly with some help from the included alignment tool. I had the flywheel turned and tried to make sure that I met all the suggestions in the enclosed instructions, So not to void the warranty. I have been really pleased with the performance thus far. The pedal height was just right without any adjustment. The pedal action feels right too. Of course they warn of a break in period so I will not be really testing the bump in clamping strength too soon. It is obvious though that this is a stronger pressure plate and clutch than the stock.

Exedy Racing Clutch: stage 1, single organic, 52% increase in clamping force

I'm just adding to my previous review of this product. the problem with the driveability of my car was not the clutch; the slave cylinder had to be exchanged. Since then, I have not had any problems with this product. Driveablility has been excellent. When i lift on the clutch pedal slowly, i can feel the pressure plate grab hold to the organic plate. The clutch also compliments my Fidanza flywheel very nicely.

I've driven this car for around 5000 miles, and there are no problems since the slave cylinder has been changed. I would recommend this product to anybody who is seeking a good and durable clutch for a reasonable price. If I had to do it over again, I would make the same decision. If anyone has any questions, feel free to send me an email.

Exedy Racing Clutch: Stage One Clutch, Single Organic Plate, 52% clamping force increase.

I ordered this particular clutch, because of the reputation that Exedy holds, especially in Japan. I ordered it from www.clutchexpress.com. I found the cheapest price there. I was happy with the service from that company. Plus its free shipping. I took my car up to Pro Car Care to install the clutch for me, simply because I don't have the necessary equipment to perform that installation. But pedal feel is basically the same. All you have to do is press the clutch a little bit, and the clutch disengages from the flywheel. I had the clutch installed the same time with a Fidanza lightweight flywheel, so def. performance increase. But the tuners at the shop didn't do that well of a job, because of the master and slave cylinders need to be exchanged, I'm picking it up tomorrow morning, so hopefully, they did it right this time. I'll write back to give more accurate feedback.

When my master and slave cylinders weren't acting up, I was very happy that I went with Exedy. Be on the lookout if I should refer this clutch to you or not, depending how well the tuners tuned my car. Keep the peace.
