A kit for adding power door locks and remote trunk release with keyless entry for 1990-2000 Miatas. Includes: main receiver module, two door lock actuators, trunk actuator, two remotes, relay for trunk actuator and mounting hardware.

Well... I was able to install this kit successfully after a lot of research and planning. The only instructions I received were the wiring diagrams for the main receiver module and a generic instruction sheet with the trunk actuator. I had to find wiring info for the additional relay on Miata.net. Once I figured it all out, I drew up a diagram which made it much easier to visualize. Mounting the actuators was another story. I was able to do it with the provided harware. I only had to buy two large sheetmetal screws to mount the the trunk actuator. There were no instructions for this part included.

I used the Miata.net article for the trunk but the doors were another story. The metal strips provided aren't long enough to mount like the pictures in the Garage articles. I wound up mounting the strips vertically and attaching the actuators on the inside. I didn't have to drill except for running the wiring out of the door and into the body. I couldn't replicate the method of detaching the wiring boot. This kit really needs some decent instructions and better hardware. I was totally on my own to figure out how to make it all work. I also think the kit is overpriced. You could buy the individual components much cheaper. No parts are Miata-specific. I don't regret buying this kit because I learned a lot and really bonded with my car's electrical system. Duetto does recommend professional installation and I agree with them. This is an advanced project for someone who is not afraid to take their car apart, drill holes and cut wires. Good luck!
