Trunk lid lift kit. Trunk lid raises by itself as soon as key is turned in lock.
Installation went smoothly. As usual, Moss directions were very thorough. Installation took about an hour with 30 minutes devoted to drilling (very dull drill bits).
Works great to a point. The kit only allows the trunk to open about 3/4 of the way. Not that big of a deal but a surprising oversight considering Moss's usual great designs. A longer bracket and strut would take care of the problem if you want to fabricate a new bracket. If I had to do it again I'd probably skip the trunk lift kit but I'd definitely do the Moss Remote Trunk Release and the Moss Trunk Light again.

Gas charged strut; raises trunk lid and holds in position.
Installation was relatively easy; instructions were complete for my '99 model. Pay particular attention to trunk lid support when removing torsion spring; marking the hinge arm with center punch, and drilling hole. I found it important to use a sharp drill bit, to expedite drilling of hole in hinge arm. Also best to get mark in center of hinge arm, for nut to tighten securely. I only installed the unit today, so I do not have long-term experience. It appears to be a quality unit.
Since purchasing my Miata, I've been unhappy with the trunk lid support. I added tension to the torsion rod as instructed at one web site, but the torsion rods were still too weak for my taste. Any extra weight on the lid would prevent it from staying in the up position. The addition of this lift kit seems to be the answer. Pull the remote release, and the trunk lids pops up to the full-open position. Effort needed to close the lid is moderate. I like it! At $45, I think it's worth it.

The kit is a single piston that will fully open the trunk lid when the release handle is pulled and will hold it open. This was a necessity for me since I installed the Saratoga trunk lid bags. Even with light items in the bags, the lid would close by itself.
Installation took a little longer than expected and required drilling one hole.
The lift works great. The trunk lid used to close if I was parked uphill or if the wind was blowing. Recommend the kit highly.
