Grey suede Mid-cut shoe. Pigskin collar and tongue facings over Nomex" fire resistant lining. Polyurethane midsole with rubber outsole featuring Roll Control spherical heel construction with reinforced "heel & toe" area on the lateral side of the right shoe.
These are beautifully made shoes, and apparently carefully designed. I was surprised at the increased control you can get for heel-and-toeing just by getting a pair of shoes. I've worn Italian "driving mocassins" before, but these are in a different league entirely. Comfortable enough for general wear, good looking in an unusual sort of way. And, as a plus, the tread pattern is a copy of the Dunlop R5 GP racing tire of the sixties!

Street shoes built for driving
I often change gear for no good reason, normally toe-and-heeling down changes under brakes. The net result of this is that I have scuffmarks on the outside of the right shoe on every pair of dress shoes are I own. Piloti offer a small range of driving shoes that are designed for walking and driving, I bought a pair of DTM shoes in black/yellow/blue. The shoes are a very good fit. I ordered mine from http://www.piloti.com based on sizing of older Adidas shoes such as Samba. I am very pleased with the shoes; initially I did not notice much difference, but driving to work the day after trying the Piloti’s, my dress shoes felt very odd. This was due to the rounded design of the heel on the Piloti compared with the square heel on my dress shoes. The pedal feel is as good or better than any shoes I have owned and they are comfortable for walking around all day.
Piloti drop shipped the shoes from Oregon via UPS. Impressively they did not charge me extra for shipping to Canada, and they sent them Expedited, saving me the brokerage fees.
