Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 - The Best Winter Tire for your Miata
Here is MI, this tire is amazing. It has kept me safely on the roads throughout the winter and in my experience with winter tires is absolutely the best! They are made in Finland and tested 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
I bought mine from www.tiresbyweb.com and they mentioned they would honor $10 off per Nokian tire with FREE SHIPPING in the continental US if you mention this site - Ask for Ryan.

Nokian RSi Winter Tires
This is one heck of a winter tire. It gets me places where 4WD vehicles can only go in the winter time and on ice. I drove to MI to see my cousin in January and I was nervous about the drive, but they performed amazingly good and got me there safely. They have what's called a "shark tooth" brake booster which looks like 1000's of little wedges that bite into the snow and ice. These are highly recommended but hard to find. I bought mine from Tire Factory at www.tirefactory.net I suggest if you need a Winter Tire, to buy this tire!

Nokian RSI winter tire.
These are dedicated snow tires, get them, they are like having studded tires without the studs.
Awsome on snow and ice, and quiet too.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q Studless Snow Tires
The best snow tires on earth! As much traction as Blizzaks with FOUR TIMES THE TREAD LIFE. I have an open differential and I managed to drive up an inclined street that was unplowed and had almost a foot of fresh snow. These tires will turn your Miata into a tank for the winter.
Amazing, all other snow tires tremble and wimper.

Nokian Hakkaapeliita NRW Snow Tires
I have used these tires for four winters on my M1 and 1 winter my '99 M2. I use my Miata to go skiing here in Ottawa.
These are great tires if you drive too fast in the snow. They have good traction but more importantly, to me at least, they break away predictably and make the car easy to catch when you overdo it in a corner in the snow. Maybe Blizzacs work better on ice but these wear better (little wear after five winters). I don't drive them hard on bare pavement. They don't seem loud to me but noise is not on of my important criteria for a winter tire. Conclusion: expensive but fun to drive in the snow and long lasting.

The Nokian Hakkapeliitta NRW is an H-rated (!), studless winter tire which was developed by Nokian of Finland to answer the needs of Scandinavians who do not wish to use studded snow tires.
These are a very surprising tire, not least of which reasons being that it is not very aggressive to look at. It has a plethora of sipes in it in a unique, uni-directional arrowhead arrangement of tread blocks which somehow work absolutely famously on ice, packed snow and fresh snow of significant depth. I find they are genuinely communicative and accurate in their steering response and very confidence-inspiring. Of course, reviews such as these are based largely on anecdotal or direct experience but I can honestly say after sampling the offerings from several other makers of snow tires that the Finnish company, Nokian, certainly have their act together. Nokian's website is http://www.nokiantyres.com. I have rallied on their Hakkapeliitta 1, a studded winter tire, and like many other competitors would not even think of another manufacturer's offerings
Alas, I don't own a Miata. I have a similarly light-in-weight car, a 1989 Honda CRX Si, which has benefited greatly from these tires and I would thus like to spread the word around! I use a set of 195/50VR15 Pirelli P600's on a separate set of alloy rims for non-winter months.
