for 2007 the MX-5 Miata was offered as either a Soft Top or as the Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT);

MX-5 Miata Sport, available as Soft Top or PRHT;

(In 2006 the Sport was above the Touring in the model lineup, for 2007 it is now the model

below the Touring.) The Sport includes all of the SV features plus the following.

For 2007 the 2006 HP rating of 170 was downrated to166 horsepower due to governmental testing procedures. The 2.0L four-cylinder engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, transmission remains as it was when introduced in 2006.

For 2007 Mazda introduced the amazing Power Retractable Hard Top, referred to as the PRHT. The PRHT featured an aluminum top that retracts into the same space occupied by the soft top with no loss of trunk space and with only an 80 pound weight penalty. With the PRHT though, the behind the seat storage compartments are not available as the top mechanisms take up the space needed for the compartments. The rear of the PRHT featured unique rear fenders and trunk lid so Soft Top rear lip spoilers, fuel lids and such do not fit., PRHT specific parts are required.
